Job Description:

 

Larry Blumberg & Associates, a growing and award-winning hotelmanagement and development company, is looking for a dynamic, proven Director of Sales who shares our values of financial success and exceptional customer service.

 

This position will be responsible for collaborating with a fellow Director of Sales to generate top line revenue that will meet or exceed budget expectations for four Marriott Hotels (both extended stay and select-service) in the Columbus market.  This position reports to the Regional Director of Sales. 

 

Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

        Achieves monthly top line revenue goals and increases the market share of the hotels.

        Approaches the position with a relationship building/proactive selling mindset.  Ensures that weekly prospecting/solicitation goals (both telephone and outside calls) are met or exceeded.  Conducts property tours as appropriate.

        Participates in sales blitzes and utilizes available business tools to prospect for new business.

        Performs the necessary pre-call planning and post-call follow-up for client appointments.

        Evaluates potential business opportunities for the hotels and presents findings/defends position as necessary to the hotel General Managers, Regional Revenue Manager and others that may be involved in the process.

        Thoroughly knowledgeable with regard to client base.  Has a strong business relationship with top producing clients.

        Utilizes internal lead source generators (sister hotels, brand Global Sales Organization, etc.) to maximize revenue production for the hotels.

        Promotes and reinforces the importance of sales throughout the hotels to coach other associates how they can positively impact sales.

        Gains contacts and business intelligence/shows community spirit through involvement in appropriate organizations.

        Meets SMART Plan due dates.

        Monitors business news in general and news specific to their geographic area.  Makes adjustments to SMART Plan as changes occur in the business world.

        Maintains awareness of the sales practices of the hotels competitive sets and, as needed, takes steps to neutralize their efforts.

        Is a product expert when it comes to selling against the hotels competitive set.

        Ensures that he/she adheres to all sales administrative processes that are in place.

        Ensures that any reports, internal requests for information and special projects are submitted on or before their due dates.

        Provides suggestions to the Regional Director of Sales and/or the Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing with regard to support materials and/or potential process changes that will grow the discipline.

        Collects and analyzes information on use history, plans, decision structure and strategies of hotels key customers.

        Strives to continually improve his/her general business and industry/job specific skills by attending company endorsed sales training and other appropriate outside continuing education

            College degree (BA/BS) preferred.

            Previous direct selling experience in a hotel.

            Demonstrated success in developing a market.

            Experience selling Marriott Select Service and Extended Stay lodging to the Military, Government, Corporate and weekend market segments is a plus.

            Hotel operations experience preferred.
